⏺️ VoiceNotes - An intimate note-taking experience and beyond

I recently stumbled upon a gem called VoiceNotes. Exploring voicenotes had been lingering on my to-do list for a while. Intrigued by a recommendation from a respected writer, I finally decided to give it a try.

💙 Beauty, longevity and privacy

Upon visiting the VoiceNotes website, I noticed their commitment to longevity, beauty and privacy.
So quoting from the landing page..

B: We are designers first. We like to own and use simple, beautiful things. We go to great lengths to keep Voicenotes as simple as we can. And simplicity takes enormous time and effort.
L: Why is it so rare to see products older than a decade or two? We like products that last a lifetime. To avoid any external influence, Voicenotes is 100% self-funded.

P: We built Voicenotes for ourselves and decided to take no shortcuts. All notes are secured on the cloud, not used for AI training, and only retrieved upon authenticated user requests.

These resonated with me, hinting at a thoughtful approach to app development. It speaks volumes about the founders' clear vision. In a world inundated with apps that often prioritize flashy features over substance, VoiceNotes stands out by focusing on what truly matters. And true to the words, the minimal design is very impressive.

🎤 Experience

The note creation flow is intuitive and simple.
- Record a voice note
- The app transcribes the voice note into text note
- It let's you edit and organize the note by using tags
- You can optionally transform the note text into blog post, tweet, summary, or a list etc.

💬 Talk to your notes

Voicenotes encourages you to record often. App has an AI agent within the app that lets the user interact with the notes. More you write, more the app understands you. This method feels like an intimate conversation with oneself. This personalized experience is quite powerful.

I believe that voicenotes can be a modern AI based tool for journaling, self reflection, capture our most spontaneous thoughts and ideas. Imagine recording memories for your kids in your own voice with an ability of interacting with those records.

It's not a traditional/complete note taking app. One may have to combine it with other note taking apps to create a complete PKM (Personal Knowledge Management) system.

The road ahead

I'm excited about the future of voice notes. The roadmap is promising, focusing on enhancing its core functionality rather than trying to be an all-encompassing note-taking solution.
While I'm enthusiastic about its current and upcoming features, I also have a personal wish. I believe adding an option for text notes would be beneficial, and it seems many other voice note users share this desire.

Go try voicenotes
